It’s hard to rag on remakes that are being remade by their original director, but what the hell is going on here? What’s the point of remaking a movie you’ve already made? Seems to me that it’d be a bit boring, but if Clark can get the respect he deserves as a director by showing the new generation his work, then all power to him, I suppose.
DEATHDREAM is about a young man killed in Vietnam who unexplainably returns home as a zombie. There are worse things to return home as (though I don’t know what), and while the original wasn’t anything to remember, I guess it’s cool they’re remaking it. Filming is expected sometime next year, after Clark’s remake of his other horror classic, CHILDREN SHOULDN’T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS, which is aiming to start filming this spring in Hollywood II (i.e., Vancouver, B.C.).
I was hoping this remake craze would be over by now, but I can see that it’s really just begun. Now there’s no hope to ever turning back… you know it’s bad when the original director’s are being tapped to remake their own movies. What’s next, hiring the exact same cast and crew and remake the exact some movie? Yeah, I can see that happening…
