Clash of the Titans director Louis Leterrier to make epic sci-fi thriller G!

Apparently having not seen CLASH OF THE TITANS, Universal has hired director Louis Leterrier to direct and produce a tent-pole sci-fi thriller called G. It’s said to have shades of THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW and TAKEN.

The idea was based on an original by Guymon Casady, of 360 Management, who will produce the film with partner Mark Gordon. No further details about G were given, as a screenwriter is only now being sought after.

As for Leterrier (seen above), he’s been on sort of a hiatus since seeing CLASH catch a critical drubbing, mostly due to the poor 3D conversion. His name has been attached to direct Y: THE LAST MAN, based on Robert K. Vaughan’s popular graphic novel. As you know, that film seems to be stuck in development hell. Who knows if it’ll ever get made, much less who’ll direct it.

Honestly though, let’s go back to G’s comparisons. How in the hell do you get a cross between a full blown disaster movie like THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, and an intimate foreign thriller like TAKEN. Quite a f*ckin’ swath to cover there, know what I mean?

Even so, you think this Leterrier cat – who’s also directed THE INCREDIBLE HULK, THE TRANSPORTER, TRANSPORTER 2 and UNLEASHED – has what it takes to helm a sci-fi tent-pole in G?
