It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone out there, considering all the money this movie made and the relatively positive reviews that came out of it (besides the crappy 3D upconvert). Nevertheless, now it’s official: according to Deadline New York, CLASH OF THE TITANS 2 is a go!
While director Louis Leterrier won’t be back at the helm, he will be back as Executive Producer on the sequel, and superstar Sam Worthington is still expected to reprise his role before he jumps on board that other sequel he’s got lined up on his plate.
Greg Berlanti has been tapped to write the story (nice–a sequel greenlit without a story…), with a Spring 2012 release in mind.
The one cool thing about this news is that this means we’ll get an original take on the battle of the Gods this time around, as (at least, to my recollection) there was never a sequel to the original CLASH OF THE TITANS. I wonder what new and innovative adventures Berlanti has up his sleeve this time around. Should be interesting to say the least, as well as whether Warner Bros. will have the forethought to just film the thing in 3D and drop the idea of converting it altogether.
