Well, we just saw the first official image from Big Clint’s HEREAFTER last Friday…and now we’ve got some exhibition news for the unearthly new chiller!
Word is Eastwood’s new film will close the festivities at this year’s New York International Film Festival (NYFF), quite an honor for any filmmaker, much less one as universally lauded as Mr. Josey Wales.
This marks the 4th film Eastwood will bring to the NYFF, the last being CHANGELING in 2008 (the others being BIRD and MYSTIC RIVER, respectively).
About the selection, committee chair and program director for the Film Society of Lincoln Center, Richard Pena, said:
“As so beautifully evident in ‘Hereafter,’ Clint Eastwood continues to make the most daring, provocative films in America. With his returned appearance here in the New York Film Festival, the director has showcased an opening night film, a centerpiece film and now this year’s closing night with ‘Hereafter,’ a ‘hat trick’ of which we are especially proud.”
HEREAFTER, a supernatural thriller centered on three people — a blue-collar American, a French journalist and a London school boy — who are touched by death in different ways – will conclude the NYFF on October 10th. it then goes wide October 22nd.
