Deadline.com reports that Colin Farrell will be slipping the fangs on to play sinister vampire Jerry Dandrige in Craig Gillespie’s remake of Tom Holland’s beloved 1985 horror flick FRIGHT NIGHT. The site also reports that Toni Collette (THE SIXTH SENSE) has joined the cast, in an unspecified role. (Perhaps the mother of Charlie Brewster’s character?)
Honestly, this choice intrigues me. Farrell certainly has a built-in badboy persona, and charm to spare. Is he what I was picturing for FRIGHT NIGHT? No, but I’ll also admit I didn’t have a preconceived actor for the role of the suave villain… It should be interesting to see who rounds out the cast…
For those of you who are completely out of the loop, FRIGHT NIGHT tells the tale of young horror film fanatic Charlie Brewster, who comes to believe his new neighbor is a bloodsucker. His only real help comes in the form of washed up actor Peter Vincent.
Anton Yelchin is playing Charlie. The actors and director Gillespie will be working from a script written by Marti Noxon (“Mad Men”, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”). No start date has been announced yet.
