Colin Firth & Nicole Kidman in talks to star in Chan-wook Park’s Stoker!

In his English-language film debut, OLD BOY director Chan-wook Park is assembling a hell of a cast for his new thriller STOKER. Two weeks ago we confirmed Mia Wasikowska’s involvement, and now it seems two Oscar caliber thespians have joined the cast.

According to the L.A. Times, Colin Firth (right) and Nicole Kidman (below) are in negotiations to partake in STOKER. The film follows an eccentric teen named India Stoker (Wasikowska) who, while mourning the death of her father, suddenly must deal with an uncle who mysteriously appears…and the strange things that then happen.

Word is Firth would play the oddball uncle, Kidman the mother of Mia’s character.

Man, if these deals go through, Park has instant worldwide credibility for this film…one out of his comfort zone. If there’s one surefire Oscar lock this year, it’s Firth for THE KING’S SPEECH. Kidman has been nominated before, and has been gaining plaudits for her work in RABBIT HOLE this year as well. With those two, and the fast-rising Wasikowska, STOKER shaping up to be no joke. Then again, what else would you expect out of Park? Dude’s the man!

What says you? You like the Firth/Kidman/Wasikowska triad? How do you think STOKER will look with those three in primary leads?
