College Zombies

You know, there’s this little sub-genre that’s absolutely brilliant when done right and just plain painful when done wrong. I’m talking about the comedy-horror genre. There’s several upon several movies out there who have tried to nail this challenging task, with some hitting home runs while others end up foul outs.

Obviously one of the movies that come to mind with the home run bit would be SHAUN OF THE DEAD. Why is SOTD so damn good? Who knows. Maybe the perfect mix of comedy and horror, maybe the casting or the script, fact is, SHAUN OF THE DEAD rocked! And every single horror/comedy since SOTD has been trying to match it’s success.

Well Mr. Warren Zide has just banked on a horror/comedy involving… zombies! This one actually sounds intriguing though. The flick is called THE HARVARD ZOMBIE MASSACRE.

Remember, we’re talking strictly horror/comedy. So I’m down for the title alone! Here’s what’s basically going down: Story centers on a scenario in which Harvard is overrun by the undead and America’s most brilliant minds fend off America’s most brilliant zombies.

Brilliant zombies huh? That can either sell big time or crash and burn. Time will tell. The script comes from the duo of Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit with Zide producing and Ryan Lewis executive producing.

Shooting is set to start early next year with some of Zide’s previous producing credits being the AMERICAN PIE franchise and the FINAL DESTINATION franchise… potential?
