When
I wasn’t able to get into the Kevin Smith panel on Saturday
afternoon (the entire 6,500 capacity room was filled and another
2,000-4,000 people were still waiting outside), I decided to hit the
friggin’ convention center floor with my trusty camera by my side,
knowing full well what awaited me: BED-LAM! I’m not sure how many
people were jammed into this place, but it was nuts with every which
corner stimulating you with more coolness, pleasure, toys, comics,
prizes, sex and people, people, people!
Amongst
those people, celebs standing around signing autographs, taking
pictures with fans and some even offering 5$ handjobs for
recognition (insert your own Corey Haim joke here). The following
video was cobbled together by myself after about an hour of walking
around. Yes, only 1 hour and check out the peeps who show up
in the video, and that doesn’t include Henry Rollins, Rosario
Dawson and director Guillermo del Toro who I ran into at
the McFarlane booth, big plastic bag in hand, checking out the
latest figurines all by himself. Great man and as per some of the
big-name talents who attend this convention, very down-to-earth.
The
video is a little frazzled as I was moving around a lot, and it’s
basically about 20 edited snippets all put together, but hopefully
it gives you all a “feel” of what it’s like to be a part
of the madness that is the San Diego Comic Convention center floor.
Of course, the second floor and the panels is an entirely different
animal for another time. Keep your eyes peeled in the video for tons
of dressed up peeps, as well as celebs like SPAWN creator Todd
McFarlane, director Quentin Tarantino, actor/director Jon
Favreau, actor Doug Jones (aka Abe Sapien), the gang from
Broken Lizard, Robert Rodriguez and a massive snake.
Good times.
