Idris Elba western Concrete Cowboy to mosey on over to Netflix

Howdy, pardners. It's been confirmed that Netflix has lassoed the worldwide rights to the Idris Elba western Concrete Cowboy from director Ricky Staub and co-starring  Stranger Things' Caleb McLaughlin. The film centers around a teenager (McLaughlin) who discovers the world of urban horseback riding when he moves in with his estranged father (Elba) in North Philadelphia. The urban Western told through the lens of a father-son drama made its world premiere at TIFF last month, where our own Chris Bumbray was in attendance.

In his review, Bumbray describes the film as an "enjoyable, relatively family-friendly urban drama," that paints a pretty compelling picture of North Philly's real-life cowboy community, the Fletcher Street Stables – a black urban horsemanship collective. To read Chris's full review, click here.

CONCRETE COWBOY has yet to receive an official release date, but I'd wager you'll find it moseying onto Netflix sometime in 2021.
