This one goes out to all my fellow New Yorkers… Or anyone who is willing to travel to Brooklyn for some quality horror fun! This summer, every Saturday in legendary Coney Island will be a “Horror Saturday”. You’ll get to check out flicks like DEAD ALIVE, FRIDAY THE 13th (1980), and DRACULA (1931) with a crowd of rowdy fanatics who share your love of frights and cheap brews.
Doesn’t get much better than this: $5 a ticket ($3 for film society members); a slew of old trailers, commercials, shorts before the feature; FREE popcorn; and best of all, you get a chance to taste Coney Island’s delicious variety of beer – in the theater!
If it sounds like I’m being a pitchman for the event, well, I sorta am, but with good reason: I actually assisted in the programming of the line-up, and my uncle is in charge of running the show. So yeah, it’s a family thing, but its my family, and we make the clan in HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES look normal. (That flick, by the way, will also be screening.)
To see the full schedule, head on right over HERE. And if you are indeed planning on checking one or two of them out, don’t hesitate to send me a heads-up at ericwalkuski@joblo.com. Maybe we’ll grab one of those “Freak Beers”! (The “Human Blockhead” is particularly tasty.)
