Sometimes my life is like the opening of
LOST HIGHWAY. The doorbell rings, I answer and solely find a package
at my door. Today, the "mystery gift" was a DVD with two short films on it.
Being that I was out of Baby Oil and had time to murder until the delivery girl
arrived, I watched them both. I’m happy to report that they blew my beret clean
off!
The first film was called CONFESSIONS,
directed by CHRIS WHITE. A professional thug viciously tortures a priest to get
some "info". Although I saw where the story was going (I guessed the ending
early on), it wasn’t the punch that fascinated me but the theme heavy trek that
got me there. Directing wise, I kept thinking "Tarantino" for some reason. Good
job!
The second film was named QUIET, directed
by SYLVAIN WHITE and written by CHRIS WHITE (they’re related I assume). This baby kicked my ass via its
extreme shots, tight editing, mad cam tricks, strong horror tones and a harsher
than harsh ending. I loved the topic at hand too! Man castrated by evil wife,
man finally loses his beans and man fights back…hard! YOWZER! What a way to
start the day!
Upon further research, I found out that CONFESSIONS is not available anywhere
(bummer) but QUIET airs every month on HBO/CINEMAX. To find out when you can
