With all the kickass DVD releases coming out in October, there would have to be those one or two ‘bleh’ titles that sneak in there. Here’s one of them.
As we reported before on the DVD, it’s set for an October 18th release. The film is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen with Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround. Extras include The Making Of DAY OF THE DEAD 2: CONTAGIUM featurette, audio commentary with Writer/Co-Director Ana Clavell, Producer/Co-Director James Glen Dudelson and Cinematographer James M. LeGoy and trailers for the original DAY OF THE DEAD, ALL SOULS DAY, IT WAITS, EVIL DEAD and DEMON HUNTER. Anchor Bay has now released cover art for the DVD itself below.
As a prequel and a sequel (huh?) to George Romero’s DAY OF THE DEAD (he was not involved in this sequel), the film is set sometime in 1968 when a strange viral outbreak is contained within the walls of a military hospital in Pennsylvania: all those exposed are destroyed and burned to the ground. A wall of silence befalls the incidence, and soon enough only a vague myth remains. The hospital becomes a civilian mental treatment center. But old secrets can’t be kept secret forever.
Just to let you know, there’s another version of the film going around on Ebay. This is NOT the Anchor Bay release. Rather, it’s a censored German version of the film, with almost a good half hour cut out. Wait until October 18th for the real deal.
