Cool Horror Videos: Stranger Things gets the MST3K treatment

I haven't yet gotten a chance to check out the new revival season of Mystery Science Theater 3000, which is now streaming on Netflix, but I'm anxiously looking forward to the time when I'm able to sit down and watch the fourteen new episodes of the series.

MST3K originally ran for ten seasons between 1988 and 1999, and I have watched many an episode from that run over the years, enjoying the show whether it was hosted by Joel Hodgson or Mike Nelson. The new season is hosted by Jonah Ray, the new guy who has been blasted into space to be tormented with screenings of cheesy movies, and his robot sidekicks Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo are voiced by Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn, replacing previous vocal performers Trace Beaulieu and Bill Corbett (Crow) and Josh Weinstein and Kevin Murphy (Tom).

Since I haven't been able to see/hear Ray, Yount, and Vaughn riffing on the movies they're shown on the 11th season of the show, the viral promo below – in which the trio riff on a couple minutes of Netflix's hit series Stranger Things – is my first and only exposure to their comedy stylings. I have to say, I really like this quick example of what they have to offer… and now that Netflix has put the idea in my head, I'm thinking I wouldn't mind watching these new MST3K guys riff on the entire run of Stranger Things.

Both Stranger Things and season 11 of Mystery Science Theater 3000, which includes riffs on REPTILICUS, CRY WILDERNESS, THE TIME TRAVELERS, AVALANCHE, THE BEAST OF HOLLOW MOUNTAIN, STARCRASH, THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT, THE LOVES OF HERCULES, YONGARY: MONSTER FROM THE DEEP, WIZARDS OF THE LOST KINGDOM, WIZARDS OF THE LOST KINGDOM II, CARNIVAL MAGIC, THE CHRISTMAS THAT ALMOST WASN'T, and AT THE EARTH'S CORE, can currently be binge watched on Netflix.
