Cool Horror Videos: The Canadian Purge is awfully polite

THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR is right around the corner, ready with its cudgels and its thinly veiled political allegory. I'm actually pretty excited for more over-the-top carnage, but in the meantime here's a cool horror video. From Boo Ya Pictures, this short imagines what it would be like if Canada had an annual Purge instead of America. It's much more polite, to say the least. Check it out below!

Written and directed by THE PURGE creator James DeMonaco, ELECTION YEAR has the following synopsis:

It’s been two years since Leo Barnes (Frank Grillo) stopped himself from a regrettable act of revenge on Purge Night.  Now serving as head of security for Senator Charlie Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell), his mission is to protect her in a run for president and survive the annual ritual that targets the poor and innocent.  But when a betrayal forces them onto the streets of D.C. on the one night when no help is available, they must stay alive until dawn… or both be sacrificed for their sins against the state.

The film stars Frank Grillo, Mykelti Williamson, Raymond J. Barry, and Edwin Hodge.

Universal will be releasing the Blumhouse/Platinum Dunes production into theatres on July 1st.
