While I do believe George A. Romero’s version of THE CRAZIES is one of his best made films, I really don’t have too many qualms about it being remade. Would I rather it wasn’t? Sure. But am I appalled to the point of boycott? Hardly. So that’s why I’m pretty excited to jack you all with a new trailer for Breck Eisner’s version, set for a February 26th release.
Starring Radha Mitchell, Timothy Olyphant, Joe Anderson, Danielle Panabaker, Christie Lynn Smith, Brett Rickaby, Preston Bailey, John Aylward, Joe Reegan, Larry Cedar and Lisa K. Wyatt – THE CRAZIES tells a tale about the inhabitants of a small Iowa town suddenly plagued by insanity and then death after a mysterious toxin contaminates their water supply.
In the second trailer we have for you underneath, the action ratchets up a bit, starting with the opening arson sequence and continuing to the intense finale (replete with some kind of mutant shot). Personally, I’m diggin’ the hell out of the parts where a killer eerily scrapes a hunting knife across a wall, then doing the same along the floor with a bloody pitchfork. That shite rocks!
Remake man Scott Kosar (TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, THE AMITYVILLE HORROR) writes with Ray Wright (CASE 39, PULSE).
