Okay, this seriously floored me.
Senior Animatronics Technician Chris Clarke posted a short, simple, but incredibly impressive video on his Facebook page showing us all what appears to be WAR HORSE’s titular ‘Joey’, except this Joey is being operated by a puppeteer!
Spielberg’s old-fashioned tear-jerker used CGI in a minimalistic way throughout its run-time, but it’s these old school pieces of animatronic craft that were used for some of the film’s most incredible sequences. Movie magic, folks. Thank goodness guys like The Beard still know the power a truly great practical effect can have on its audience.
