Cool Videos: The Unfinished Films of Stanley Kubrick

It was just a few months ago that I decided to stay in my basement for the weekend and watch every Stanley Kubrick movie. We have some harsh winters here in Canada, so don’t judge me. I managed to watch everything from 1960 onward as I figured I had seen PATHS OF GLORY enough times I could just re-watch it my head later. After all was said and done, like a lot of us do when a movie is over, I went to the Internet to learn everything I could about them. I quickly fell down a rabbit hole of Kubrick's life filled with stories, great anecdotes, bitching quotes, and more importantly, his unfinished work.

Hearing about movies he abandoned, considered, or didn’t have a chance to make is a punch to the gut. Kubrick wasn't the most prolific filmmaker; he was generous with the time and attention he gave to his work though. He was obsessed with perfection and you can only admire that about the man and try not to pout like I did after that cold wintery weekend.

Now that I’ve said all that, you should watch this great 20-minute documentary, "The Unfinished Films Of Stanley Kubrick". Narrated by Malcolm McDowell, this short documentary examines the films Stanley Kubrick developed but didn't live to make. The doc features interviews given by Kubrick's longtime producer Jan Harlan, Jack Nicholson,Sydney Pollack and others.

If you have ever wondered what happened with NAPOLEON, THE ARYAN PAPERS, and A.I., you should watch this.
