Could Elijah Wood be looking to topline the upcoming Maniac remake?!

Back in August we learned that the talented Alexandre Aja would be passing along the task of directing the upcoming remake of the classic 1980 slasher flick MANIAC to friend and frequent collaborator Franck Khalfoun, though Aja would still be producing the flick with it’s scribe Gregory Levasseur. Now the question presents itself: Who will be starring in this unnecessary remake?

Well if the guys over at Bloody-Disgusting are to be believed those names are Elijah Wood and Nora Arnezeder! That’s right folks, Wood would be playing ‘Frank’ while Arnezeder (below) would step in as ‘Anna.’ So Elijah Wood as a brutal, homicidal maniac? … I just can’t see it. Granted, the dude was creepy as shite in SIN CITY but this is a very different role… Think Wood can pull it off?

In the original film, a schizoid serial killer randomly stalks and kills various young women in New York, which he sees as revenge for the mistreatment he got while being raised by his own abusive mother.

Of course we’ll be on the lookout for some official word to all of this so be sure to keep it here for that as soon as it comes our way.
