According to the same blog/source that reported last week that GHOSTBUSTERS 3 will actually be in 3D (read the report HERE), it looks like another 80s franchise is looking to land another sequel, this one also in 3D. What franchise are we talking here? None other than Joe Dante’s GREMLINS–as in GREMLINS 3… in 3D!
Take this report as a rumor and nothing more than pure speculation at this point, but a close source to Market Saw Blog reports that a new GREMLINS movie is in the works, and will be shot in glorious 3D.
It’s unclear whether the film will be a straight sequel or a remake of the original (let’s hope sequel), but regardless, 3D is in the cards. Having Dante return to direct makes a ton of sense too, since his latest film THE HOLE is in 3D and is making a splash with those who have seen it. Could Dante be the next go-to guy when it comes to makeing 3D movies? Why the f*ck not?
A GREMLINS movie is the kind of movie gimmicky 3D was made for: little creatures jumping around off the screen and into your lap, causing havoc and creating other such michief, while in your face the whole time. Count me in! For our sakes, let’s hope this ends up being more than just a rumor, but one that’s true!
