Could Joss Whedon shoot his S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series as soon as January?

I think I just struck advertising gold – Marvel should air all sorts of AVENGERS (and other Marvel-related) goodies on a channel called S.H.I.E.L.D. TV.  All they have to do is collect everything under the solid banner I just came up with.  I’ve done all the brainstorming work – Whedon and Kevin Feige will be calling any minute, right?

Insofar as the actual news of the moment goes, Marc Graser (of Variety) recently tweeted the scoop that Whedon would indeed start shooting S.H.I.E.L.D. this January.  Which is both exciting and soon – no, really, that’s less than two months away.  I think the technical term is actually “hella soon.”  The same tweet also suggested that we’ll be hearing more casting news soon to accompany the recent casting of Ming-Na Wen as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Melinda May and the pre-existing casting of Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson.

ABC is the network working in conjunction with Marvel on this project, with Whedon directing the pilot and co-writing it with his brother Jed and Maurissa Tancharoen – perhaps a September 2013 air date is hoped for?
