Couples Weekend Interview: Alexandra Daddario and Ashley Park break down the chaos of their new rom-com

A film that had a relatively quiet release both theatrically and on VOD this past weekend was Couples Weekend, a comedy-drama directed by Nora Kirkpatrick and starring Alexandra Daddario, Daveed Diggs, Josh Gad, and Ashley Park. In the film, two couples get snowed in at a cabin during a New Year’s Eve getaway and find themselves in a crazy situation as they confront and challenge their relationships.

I was given an opportunity to sit down with two of the leads, Alexandra Daddario and Ashley Park, via Zoom and discuss the film as they break down the situation their characters are in, dealing with struggles of relationships, as well as the writing and direction under Nora Kirkpatrick, who made her directorial debut with this film.

I found the film engaging because it made me question what on earth I would do in a situation like that. Would you confront your friend and partner and end things there on the spot? It gives you a perspective from every possible angle, and you’ll find yourself laughing a few times in the process. (Definitely not a situation I would ever want to be in for sure).

Here’s the film’s official synopsis: Lifelong friends Debs and Mitch take their partners, Josh and Melanie, to a remote, snowy cabin for a New Year’s getaway. The trip derails when Debs and Mitch discover their spouses are having a secret affair. Trapped by a snowstorm and influenced by a mysterious “truth serum” cocktail, the quartet is forced to confront their insecurities, betrayals, and failing relationships, turning a romantic vacation into a chaotic showdown.
