Angelina Jolie delivers a gripping performance in the heart-wrenching trailer for Alice Winocour’s Couture

Let today’s trailer for Couture serve as a reminder to schedule regular check-ups with your doctor, because you never know what you might find, and prevention is imperative to living a longer, happier life. In Alice Winocour’s Couture, Angelina Jolie returns to the silver screen for one of her most vulnerable performances ever as a woman coming face-to-face with her own mortality.

What is Couture about?

In Couture, Angelina Jolie stars as Maxine, an American filmmaker who arrives in Paris during the frenzy of Fashion Week. Drawn into a love story with a familiar collaborator as her path intersects with women of different ages and cultural backgrounds – all fighting to take control of their own destinies – Maxine finds herself on a deeply personal journey of self-discovery that forces her to confront the choices shaping her life.

Couture is the latest film from French screenwriter and director Alice Winocour, whose directing credits include Augustine, Disorder, Proxima, and Paris Memories, as well as several shorts. In her latest film, Maxine (Angelina Jolie) is under Paris’ spell until a call from her doctor reveals a life-altering illness that could end her life sooner than she’d ever anticipated. As Maxine struggles to understand her new circumstances, she finds strength in herself and the people around her as she confronts her new reality.

Couture looks like a great film for Jolie to showcase her powerhouse performances. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve seen her in something so affecting, relatable, and urgent. Sadly, scores of people can relate to Maxine, and I hope her story gives them strength and perspective.

Who else stars in Couture?

Louis Garrel, Ella Rumpf, Garance Marillier, Anyier Anei, and Vincent Lindon join Jolie as the main cast, with Charles Gillibert, Zhang Xin, William Horberg, and Angelina Jolie producing. Winocour directs Couture from her own script.

Vertical will release Couture in theaters on June 26, 2026, and I suspect there won’t be a dry eye in the house as Maxine embarks on her journey. I’m not gonna lie, this trailer is hitting close to home for me, as I’ve known many people (including family members) who’ve walked the same road as Maxine. I’ve seen these people do incredible things, and I hope this film is a tribute to their strength and courage.
