According to MovieHole, Craven was considering the project a few years back when Miramax decided it was too much like THE RING and dropped it. Well now, after a few tweaks and renamed as PULSE, Craven is ready to work his horror magic again.
Set to start filming this May in Romania, PULSE will have Project Greenlight’s Joel Soisson and Mike Leahy, who are the boys behind this years FEAST, as producers.
The original KAIRO (according to IMDB) went like this: After one of their friends commits suicide, strange things begin happening to a group of young Tokyo residents. One of them sees visions of his dead friend in the shadows on the wall, while another’s computer keeps showing strange, ghostly images. Is their friend trying to contact them from beyond the grave, or is there something much more sinister going on?
Hard to say what tweaks this plot went through, but we can only imagine what they’ll have to do to it to make it less RING-like (and less FEAR DOT COM-like). Never having seen KAIRO, I must say it sounds pretty sweet, and with Craven and the guys behind FEAST on board, it sounds like a bloody good time! More on PULSE as it comes to light!
