Crazies goes viral

With THE CRAZIES just 2 months away, the film is officially on the horizon. Just yesterday I noticed the teaser poster up at my local movie theater, and today… Overture Films has launched not one but two viral websites for THE CRAZIES in a marketing push to get the word out.

Viral site number one is SAVE OGDEN MARSH, a site devoted to saving the poor town whose water supply has been tainted with a bio-weapon, thus making the residents go… crazy! Greenpeace and other ‘save the environment’ groups appear to be the ones behind this site, a site that clearly takes the side of the locals and the environment, and not the government. You can also follow this site on TWITTER.

Then there’s viral site number two, for DAKON / PENDRILL CHEMICALS, the ‘official site’ of the company presumably responsible for the chemical spill in the first place. It’s all very corporate in its shenanigans, and pretty much looks and feels like a real chemical company’s website.

Two viral sites, two flips of the coin. Of course, you won’t find anything saying ‘this is for the upcoming movie THE CRAZIES,’ but trust us. It is. Check out the two sites, take a stand, and get ready for Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell in THE CRAZIES hitting theaters February 26, 2010.
