Okay, right off the bat, this is NOT the recently released Jason Statham flick DEATH RACE, although you may find a great deal of similarities between the two. This one, clearly looking to distance itself as far away from the Statham film as possible, is called DEATH RACERS. Wait a minute, I better re-think my last sentence. Anyway, this latest version, which I just heard about, stars members of the Insane Clown Posse… as themselves! That should at least give you a hint of what RACERS is going for. Let’s get the been-there plot out of the way:
In a dystopian future, contestants compete in a cross-country road race in which killing is part of the game.
“Are you sure this isn’t DEATH RACE?” you may be asking. As far as I know, this IS a new, slightly different flick. And the proof is in the pics (like the one up top)! In fact, the reason that got me interested in the flick is these pics! From the look of things, I think we may be in for a rip-roaring good time with these RACERS. The flick was directed by Roy Knyrim from a script by Andrew Helm. In addition to Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope (of ICP), the rest of the cast includes Scott Levy, Stephen Blackehart, Elina Madison, Elissa Dowling, Jason Ellefson, Damien Puckler, Jennifer Keith (below), and Jonathan Nation. DEATH RACERS is already on DVD, so go ahead and pick it up.
