As remakes go, it’s pretty easy for me to get behind one for CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON. The original is great, but it’s also dated and completely unscary. A new version of it could be alot of fun. Especially since the screenplay update is by Gary Ross, son of Arthur A. Ross who wrote the original.
Now Universal has hired Breck Eisner to helm. He was responsible for the unsuccessful, but well meaning SAHARA. Even though his first effort could have gone better, I still think the energy he brought to the project should serve CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON well.
I just hope they manage to maintain the integrity of the original monster design and don’t screw with it completely like the U.S. Godzilla.
