The ‘net is abuzz today with the news that Lionsgate has dumped its long-awaited Joel Schumacher film CREEK without nary a warning… Okay, maybe the ‘net isn’t abuzz, and maybe CREEK hasn’t been long-awaited, but what the hell do you want, it’s a slooooow Friday.
Anyway, the site BloodshotEye was apparently the first to notice that the flick, now going under the title BLOOD CREEK (and once known as TOWN CREEK), has been unloaded today in a few second-run theaters in cities like Orlando, Memphis, Dallas, Nashville and a couple others. It’s a move reminiscent of Lionsgate’s treatment of MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN last year, but in this case BLOOD CREEK has had little in the way of fanfare leading up to its unceremonious dumping. MEAT TRAIN had the benefit of people knowing it actually existed – BLOOD CREEK is fortunate if more than a dozen folks reading this article know what the hell I’m talking about.
To review, our last major article on the flick was back in June of 08, where we revealed the plot details. (Amusingly enough, even back then I cracked wise about how long the film had been floating around.) Since – just one other article on the film, showcasing some dailies, which you can watch below.
BLOOD (TOWN) CREEK stars Dominic Purcell, Henry Cavill, Michael Fassbender (of 300 and INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS fame), Emma Booth, Rainer Winkelvoss, Shea Whigham, Gerard McSorley, and Winter Ave Zoli – and yes – it was directed by Joel Schumacher.
All I know for certain is, I’m changing my name to Rainer Winkelvoss…
