I love me a good ol’ fashion creepy kid movie more than you’ll ever know, so when I stumbled across the announcement of Agnes Merlet’s DOROTHY hitting DVD and Blu-ray shelves in the UK this May, I couldn’t resist!
So we’re not all entirely in the dark, DOROTHY (formerly titled DOROTHY MILLS) goes a little bit like this: Jane Morton, a psychiatrist from Dublin in deep mourning following the accidental death of her husband and son, is assigned to work on the case of Dorothy Mills, a teenaged girl in a small village who tried to strangle a baby. After miraculously surviving a car accident, Jane discovers a village darkened by strange events and meets a very nervous Dorothy, who swears she never touched the baby. After analyzing the teenager, Jane makes a diagnosis of multiple personality disorder until the day that Dorothy speaks with the voice of David, Jane’s dead son.
Boo-ya! Sounds like a blast and a half to me, with a dash of THE WICKER MAN thrown in there for good measure. I like it, yo! The film stars Carice van Houten, Jenn Murray, and David Wilmot, and will be hitting DVD and Blu-ray in the UK May 10, 2010.
Unfortunately, the special features aren’t anything to write home about, as they include the following:
Could be worse… could have no special features at all, right? Plus, gotta love that they included the film’s original theatrical trailer, since a lot of movies these days seem to forget to do that.
