We got word over the weekend that his latest flick, EASTERN PROMISES, just started filming in London this week, and I couldn’t be more stoked to check it out! Sure, it may not be horror per se, but neither was A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, and that movie was cinematic gold. Like VIOLENCE, PROMISES stars Viggo Mortensen, and THE RING hottie Naomi Watts. The film follows the mysterious and ruthless Nikolai (Mortensen), who is tied to one of London’s most notorious organized crime families. His carefully maintained existence is jarred when he crosses paths with Anna (Watts), an innocent midwife trying to right a wrong, who accidentally uncovers potential evidence against the family. Now Nikolai must put into motion a harrowing chain of murder, deceit, and retribution.
Are ya feelin’ it? Sounds like a great revenge-like flick, and if it turns out anything like HISTORY, there’s gonna be plenty of feel-good deaths to go around. No release date is set in stone as of yet, but if it’s as high caliber as it sounds, I’d have to guess it’ll rock us next holiday season, just in time for the Oscars… Stay tuned for more updates on EASTERN PROMISES as we hear them!
