We just got a heads up about a little indie flick that totally almost came and went without our knowing about it at all. Seriously, I’m floored that we dropped the ball on this one as it looks and sounds like it could be pretty damn cool. And since it hits in select theaters July 24th, it’s good timing that we picked it up now!
The flick’s called SURVIVING CROOKED LAKE, and it goes a little something like this: In this sensual, intense, indie feature drama, a quartet of teenage girls embark on a canoe-and camping
trip with a slightly older male guide in the endless wilderness of the Canadian Shield.
His younger sister Steph – who is desperately afraid of the water – is one of the campers. Once
the group is underway, romantic tensions erupt and disaster strikes, forcing the girls to face a
grueling and desperate trip back to civilization.

They’re describing this beast as DELIVERANCE meets OPEN WATER, which means I’m pretty much SOLD on it right now. It also reminds me a bit of MEAN CREEK which came out not too long ago. Maybe cause of the kid angle? The murder involved? The lake / creek? Who knows…
The new poster is also rockin’ me pretty good as well. Gotta love the tagline, and the image leads to the imagination, mostly… where’s the body and the other f*cking canoe I’ve been hearing about????
