Today is a sad day here at AITH… it seems THE CROW remake is officially moving forward. Excuse me while I go weep.
Alright I’m not really weeping but this really f*cking sucks. Now I got pissed when I heard A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET was getting remade… but like most of you I’ve slowly grown to look forward to the remake. I promise you that won’t be the case with THE CROW. I don’t care who’s attached to this one, it won’t rope me in.
My reason being is because the original 1994 film is my favorite movie of all time. Avid cinema fans like yourselves can appreciate a fellow movie fan actually sitting down and choosing a clear cut favorite… and I did: THE CROW. To see that film remade quite literally hurts.
I guess the only silver lining here is that THE CROW will be more along the lines of a ‘reboot.’ Oh boy. Director Stephen Norrington has gone on to say… “Whereas [Alex] Proyas’ original was gloriously gothic and stylized, the new movie will be realistic, hard-edged and mysterious, almost documentary-style. But what exactly can we expect? We still don’t know unfortunately.
What we do know is Norrington has finished the script and according to Comics2Film it’s being ‘very well received’ by Relativity. So much so that this one is being put on the fast track with casting set to start immediately. Oh joy. Let’s just hope they don’t go anywhere near Jason Statham. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of the guy… but definiately not for this. As always be sure to keep it here for updates as we hear them.
