Did you know that Albert Pyun was in pre-production on a prequel to CYBORG? I for one did not, but a look at Pyun’s official Facebook page indicates that he’s actually quite far along in the process. In fact, shooting on the thing, titled CYBORG: RISE OF THE SLINGERS kicks off on November 28th in Nevada!
Pyun has obviously been very diligent about updating his Facebook page, as well as contributing posts to the Van Damme Fan.net, about the prequel, taking us through every phase of development. Here’s one of his comments on the pic:
The film is about how the Slinger brotherhood came about and how Fender was originally one of the good guys until he gets caught up in a religious cult that converts him.
We’ll learn why everyone is named after a musical gear (has to do with Slinger code). Its also set in the waning days of the steampunk apocalypse.
Action is MA mixed with Nemesis style action. Swords and knives are the abundant weapon of choice.
As for the cast of the flick, it includes Michael Pare, Sasha Mitchell, Olivier Gruner, Roxy Gunn, Vince Klyn and Terrie Batson. Pyun is apparently still casting, so keep an eye here for more updates; to check out Pyun’s Facebook posts, head on over HERE.
