Dafoe’s a vampire… again.

In a lifetime of bizarre performance’s, perhaps Willem Dafoe’s strangest – and arguably, coolest – is as Max Schreck in SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE. He elevated an otherwise disappointing movie (in my opinion) with his campy, completely effective performance as a real-life vampire struggling with his lust for blood and the pressures of being on a movie set…

Well he’s sticking in the false teeth once again, joining Ethan Hawke and Sam Neill in DAYBREAKERS, the new film from the Spierig Brothers (UNDEAD).

Strangely, it’s Hawke that’s breaking the news, telling StarPulseblog:
“I’m going to make a vampire picture and I’m going to chew on some necks. Willem Dafoe and I are duelling vampires. It’s a vampire movie set way in the future where everyone is a vampire and we’re all eating our own resources, so we’re trying to get off on foreign humans. We’re trying to get off of trying to create blood substitutes. It’s a big analogy about what’s going on now. It’s really dark and weird and everybody’s sucking each other’s blood.”

Pretty deep. The flick is rounding up a good cast so far, and I’m intrigued to see what the Spierig’s have up their sleeve after UNDEAD, so we’ll keep you posted as more info drops in…
