Danny Boyle & Richard Curtis will team for a music-themed comedy

Well, this is something I certainly did not see coming. This afternoon, it was revealed that SUNSHINE and TRAINSPOTTING director Danny Boyle is joining forces with BLACK ADDER and MR. BEAN writer Richard Curtis for a music-themed comedy. The mysterious, new project will hail from Universal Studios and UK born-and-raised Working Title.

Set to work alongside Boyle and Curtis on the yet-to-be-titled film are Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, who will produce while in the good company of Matt Wilkinson (THE CALL UP, GATEWAY 6) and Bernie Bellew of 28 WEEKS LATER and 127 HOURS fame.

Currently, no plot details have been revealed about the film. And you know what that means, don't you? It's time to book a flight to Speculationville, as we attempt to determine what to expect. Personally, I think the possibilities for this project are all over the map. In looking at who's involved, we could expect anything from a feel-good romance to a straight-up "let's get the sucker adapted for Broadway" barn burner. Word has it that Boyle will work on this music-related project while still sorting out the details of his James Bond script that he's writing with John Hodge (THE BEACH, SHALLOW GRAVE).

What do you think will be the basis for this upcoming project? Does Danny Boyle have a song in his heart that he just can't wait to share with the rest of the world? Will there be infected? Can we expect to see dead babies dancing on ceilings, top hat and swinging cane-style? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
