Danny Trejo, Vanessa Bell Calloway and more line up for urban slasher Hollaback

I’m sadly unfamiliar with the 2006 horror item HOLLA, a slasher film from director H.M. Coakley, but apparently it warrants a sequel, as a press release issued today informs us that HOLLABACK is about to go into production. I guess with the first one called HOLLA, there was only one title the sequel could claim.

The film is set to star Vanessa Bell Calloway, Kiely Williams and Danny Trejo, as well as Greg Cipes, Akeem Smith, Cyann Ribeiro, Laila Odom, Gabriela Dias and Melissa Paulo. Coakley returns to write and direct.

The sequel picks up where the original ended then fast-forwards to present day Louisiana where Williams’ character, trying to put the past behind her, has started a new life and is about to get married at a stately plantation house rumored to be haunted… Not long after settling into the plantation house, history repeats itself as members of the wedding party begin dying violently one by one.

Vanessa Bell Calloway plays Kiely Williams’ “stern, officious mother,” while Trejo plays “the mysterious property manager with a dark secret.”

Principal photography begins next week in Los Angeles. Lionsgate Films acquired the original HOLLA in 2007 and the filmmakers currently have a first look deal with the studio for this sequel.
