Well this should hit all the Stephen King fan’s out there right in the joy button. Over at author Robert McCammon’s official site there’s an update from Frank Darabont himself basically apologizing for the delay in getting a filmic version of the novel MINE greenlit.
He explains about the difficulty of getting a film set to go, and then detours into some very interesting news at the end of his note:
“I remain committed to making MINE, and am currently in a search for the actresses to play the lead roles of Laura and Mary. I’m hoping to get the movie before the cameras at some point in 2006, although it might be later that year rather than earlier. That’s because circumstance and opportunity (the planets aligning) might dictate that I direct my adaptation of Stephen King’s great horror novella, The Mist, first. If so, I will likely start shooting The Mist this coming December, ’05.”
So King fans rejoice. It looks like THE MIST may finally see the light of day. We’ll keep you updated as we know more.
