Darabont’s Zombie show

Frank Darabont really alienated me from his fan base after the atrocity (in my opinion) that was THE MIST. Lazy, insulting, and overindulgent. Hence, it is with a grain of salt that I report that Darabont is looking to step into the horror genre again. It appears that he would like to adapt Image Comics graphic novel series THE WALKING DEAD, from writer Robert Kirkman, into a TV series for AMC.

The basic premise for the comic goes like this: A group of zombie survivors of an apocalypse are led by a police officer, Rick Grimes, in search of a safe place to live.

Sounds simple enough. I guess if done right, it could make for an intriguing series. Has there ever been a zombie television show before? I don’t think so. Perhaps Darabont will be able to win me back with this one. As long as he doesn’t offer up some trite bullshit about a father being forced to murder his own son. That’s not brave storytelling, that’s just f*cked up and wrong (in my opinion). For the entire story on WALKING DEAD, click here.
