Dario Argento’s Dracula 3D picked up for U.S. distribution!

Color me surprised. After the trailers we’ve witnessed for Dario Argento’s DRACULA 3D (enjoy one below), I figured this one would crawl its way to a sad direct-to-DVD fate here ala GIALLO. But nope, looks like we lucky folk in the states are going to get an opportunity to witness DRACULA 3D On Demand and perhaps even in the theater!

Fangoria reports the IFC has acquired the domestic rights to DRACULA and plans on releasing the film via its IFC Midnight label sometime in 2013. IFC usually sends their films to VOD, but a choice few get a shot theatrically as well. And if you’re going to experience DRACULA 3D, you might as well strap on the glasses and get cozy with a roomful of strangers!

The tale begins with Jonathan Harker, journeying by train and carriage from England to Count Dracula’s crumbling, remote castle situated in the Carpathian Mountains on the border of Transylvania. The purpose of his mission is to catalogue the big library of Dracula. At first enticed by Dracula’s gracious manner, Harker soon discovers that he has become a prisoner in the castle. He also begins to see disquieting facets of Dracula’s nocturnal life. One night while searching for a way out of the castle, and against Dracula’s strict admonition not to venture outside his room at night, Harker falls under the spell of three wanton female vampires, the Brides of Dracula.

DRACULA 3D stars Thomas Kretschmann, Marta Gastini, Asia Argento, Unax Ugalde, and Rutger Hauer.
