Darius producer talks

It’s been a few months since I first told you about MTV’s new venture into horror with their show DARIUS (relive it HERE.) – I had frankly forgotten about it because I try to purge anything MTV-related from my consciousness as soon as it finds its way in there (except for maybe Shakira music videos). That said, I can’t argue with their going in this new direction – at least it isn’t a fake-reality show displaying a consortium of a-hole rich kids trying to out-obnoxious each other. (Question for any popular rich kids reading: can I hang out with you?)

DARIUS exec-producer Tony Krantz gave ShockTillYouDrop an update on the project – or rather, a fleshing out of its previously unknown plotline:

‘Darius’ deals with a typical high school kid who decides to take matters into his own hands… He’s a young genius like Hannibal Lecter. Basically, he rights wrongs, but not as a superhero would or how Charles Bronson in ‘Death Wish’ would, [he does it] sorta in the world of a suburban revenge or a suburban serial killer. It’s got a great spirit to it.”

How could anything dealing with a suburban serial killer NOT have great spirit?

What I’m more interested in is the other show MTV is developing: CHEERLEADER CAMP, a campy horror show. Yeah yeah, it’ll be about obnoxious rich kids – but they’ll be presumably getting killed, so I’ll probably watch the hell out of it…

Since I randomly mentioned her in the article, I’m obligated to post a picture of Shakira – here showing us her “OH!” face.
