Dark Tower TV series to star Idris Elba; first episode has been written!

We are less than a month away from the August 4th premiere of the long-awaited live-action adaptation of Stephen King's THE DARK TOWER, starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, and I couldn't be more excited.

We have been shooting you guys info on the potential TV series for the books about as long as we have been talking about the film, but now it seems we will be getting a DARK TOWER TV series for sure – if the live-action feature is a success…

THE DARK TOWER screenwriter, Akiva Goldsman was recently talking with Deadline and let slip a few cool new tidbits about the potential series, the biggest bit is that the first episode has already been written!

Akiva Goldsman on THE DARK TOWER TV Series:

The first episode of a show has been written, and we hope to retain Ron [Howards]'s original idea to mix platforms, something that seemed revolutionary 10 years ago but now is something that others have done.

On top of that sweet news, it turns out the series will star Idris Elba as The Gunslinger and would be an origin story, following the events of the book Wizard and Glass.

Goldsman on The Gunslinger origin story:

Idris for sure is part of this, and if the movie is Roland Deschain the gunslinger, the show is his origin story, based on the fourth novel in the series, Wizard and Glass.

Very, very cool, I say! But what do YOU think of a potential THE DARK TOWER TV series? Make sure to hit us up on social media and let us know what you think on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!
