Yet another comic-book property I’ve never heard of is getting the big-screen treatment, although this one has some heavy hitters behind it. Namely, Weta, those wacky, ingenious New Zealanders who seem to be involved in everything nowadays.
The flick is called DARKCHYLDE, and one of the people involved sent AICN a few words about it (as well as provided the image above) – most importantly what the flippin’ hell it’s about:
Story revolves around a very pretty girl’s curse that allows her to transform into different creatures from her nightmares. Ariel Chylde is a physical pandora’s box, and these creatures borrow her blood and bones to hitchhike over to our world. Everytime Ariel changes, she sets a different creature free in her small southern town.
Sounds downright kooky. Although I can’t get overly psyched when this guy goes on to say it’ll have a “wicked, sexy cool UNDERWORLD vibe.” I dunno, I’m just really over that vibe. Guess it’s too cool.
Also, the official Darkchylde website is showing off the below maquette, which was revealed during some weird convention thingy in San Diego last week. If I had a dollar for every time a chick stood on my head like that… man, I’d be even poorer than I am now.
