Can’t flirting with both D.C. and Marvel get you killed?
Well, it doesn’t seem to bother Darren Aronofsky (seen right), director of the upcoming Marvel property THE WOLVERINE, as well as the currently circulating BLACK SWAN. But you know in Hollywood, you always have to have your next project set-up, and that’s certainly not lost on Mr. Aronofsky. In fact, dude’s thinking big. How big? F*ckin’ BATMAN big!
That’s right y’all, according to Aronofsky himself (via Clothes on Film), his name is definitely in the ring when it comes to helming a 4th BATMAN movie. We all know Chris Nolan is only on board for three entries in the series reboot, and with his expiration date coming soon enough, Aronofsky has more than a desire to pick up the reins. In fact, he wants to polish off the script he wrote back in ’04-’05, before Warner Bros. deemed his version too dark and subsequently hired Nolan, and it eventually…I repeat, eventually put in on the big screen.
Nothing’s official at this point, word is Warner Bros. wants to adapt that very script into a comic and see how well the dark material is received by fans. Here’s what Darren had to say:
“It hasn’t really been announced, I don’t know if I should give you the scoop! But we’re getting there. We’re doing a comic book of a (Batman) script that’s really hard to make and we’re going to do a comic version first and see what happens…It seems like if you come up with an original script, in Hollywood it’s not as effective as a comic book.”
A sad but true statement, that last line. I guess if the comic stirs up enough cash, the studio may consider the content filmable. Until that long away day, treat this here news as lofty tent-pole speculation, nothing more or less. Still, it would be cool to see Batman go from Nolan to Aronofsky!
What says you on the matter?
