Date Changes

We all know that GRINDHOUSE is going to dominate the box office for at least the first few weeks after it’s release, so what’s another R rated horror flick to do in hopes to make out a little on top of the competition? They release their movie a full day before GRINDHOUSE, that’s what! And that’s exactly what Warner Bros. is doing with THE REAPING, which was originally supposed to hit theaters April 6th. Now it’s hitting theaters Thursday, April 5th! Way to show them! Nice burn!

Seriously though, what the hell is this? A Thursday release? I thought it was a bit bizarre that THE OMEN was released on a Tuesday, but at least they had a reason for it (being 6/06/06). But this? A Thursday? Why not just say ‘f*ck it’ and release it on Wednesday, which (besides Friday) is a normal release day date? The only plus here? It’s still rated R, and Hilary Swank is looking might swanky in the trailers- can’t complain about that!

Also, we got word that the long awaited Jim Isaac werewolf movie SKINWALKERS has been kicked back from it’s original March 30th date, to a more respectable July 27th. I hope they moved it back because they think it’s good enough to compete at the summer box office, and not because it’s 2 weeks before it’s original release date, and they have yet to start their marketing campaign. Seriously, we should be seeing stills, trailers, clips, posters and annoying web-ads for this already, if it were to hit theaters March 30th… hopefully they’ll get their act together in July.
