Update: Dave Bautista joins Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner sequel

UPDATE: It's official. Bautista's casting has been confirmed via official press release from Alcon Entertainment. Welcome aboard, Dave!

It looks like Dave Bautista may have landed a role in director Denis Villeneuve's BLADE RUNNER sequel!

The SPECTRE and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY star teased his involvement with the project over the weekend on his social media accounts by sharing a photo of himself with an origami unicorn. It hasn't been officially announced yet that Bautista has joined Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling and Robin Wright in BLADE RUNNER 2, however there might be one in the next few weeks since principle photography is expected to begin this summer.

If I was a betting man, I'd put my money on Bautista playing a replicant of some sort or the "big man" (he is a large dude) from Ridley Scott's slightly spoilery description of the opening scene of the sequel. Not much is known about the follow-up, except that it "will be autonomous" but "at the same time there will be some link" to the first film, and that it will be set decades after the original movie. Do you think Bautista is a good addition to the cast of the sequel?

BLADE RUNNER 2 will arrive in theaters on January 12, 2018.
