As a rule in this industry whenever an actor goes on record saying something about a film you’ve got to always take it with a grain of salt. Why? Well because to be quite honest the actors really don’t have much say in the final product of a film. So with that being said I’d go ahead and take today’s news as a rumor until otherwise confirmed. But what the hell, it’s a fun rumor so we’re going to run with it!
You see the guys over at Dread Central hit up LA’s Screamfest recently and had a chance to chat it up with SCREAM franchise star David Arquette. Of course the subject landed on Wes Craven’s upcoming sequel SCREAM 4 and Arquette voluntarily spilled the following detail: Apparently SCREAM 4 has scored itself a subtitle and will now be called SCREAM 4: THE RETURN TO WOODSBORO. Hmm… alright then.
Now I’m loving the idea of returning to Woodsboro after straying away from the small town in the last two installments… but why switch things up now? Just slap the thing with the number 4 and call it a day. Then again perhaps with the hopes of a new trilogy Craven and company want to seperate this fourth installment from the previous three somehow? As always as soon as this is denyed or confirmed you’ll be the first to know! Now regardless of all that… what do you guys think of the title? Digging it? Do you think it’s lame? Hit us with your thoughts on the announcement below!
Ten years have passed, and Sidney Prescott, who has put herself back together thanks in part to her writing, is visited by the Ghostface Killer.
SCREAM 4 sees the return of Arquette, Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox. Also joining the fun this time will be Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere (below), Rory Culkin, Adam Brody, Marielle Jaffe, Anthony Anderson, Nico Tortorella, Mary McDonnell, Lucy Hale, Marley Shelton, Alison Brie and Erik Knudson. This shite recently finished filming and already has a release date pegged of April 15, 2011 so expect more SCREAM 4: THE RETURN TO WOODSBORO goods soon!
