David Green in talks to direct Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2

It looks like the next installment of the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES reboot will have a new director and perhaps some returning foes from the days of TMNT past. This summer the Jonathan Liebesman directed reboot went on to gross over $470 million worldwide, and that was without the warm reception from critics. The sequel was subsequently set for June 3, 2016 and now Paramount is eyeing EARTH TO ECHO director David Green to take over from Liebesman. Reports didn't indicate why the change in director was happening but said that Paramount wanted a "new approach" for the sequel.

Green certainly has the kid-friendly experience behind his name, so that might be what the studio is looking for. I recently watched the latest TMNT movie and as much as I disliked it, I will say that it's certainly for the kids and it clearly did a good job at finding that fanbase all over again. Keeping with some familiarity though, Michael Bay is returning to produce the sequel alongside his Platinum Dune partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.

There has been speculation that classic baddies Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang from Dimension X might appear in the sequel. Liebesman expressed interest into taking the turtles in that direction so perhaps those ideas will still be considered. Plot details are unknown at this time, though Megan Fox and Will Arnett are expected to reprise their roles.
