A little over a year ago, I wrote about the creation of screenwriter David Hayter’s company Dark Hero and its first project SLAUGHTER’S ROAD, which was to be a breaking down of the werewolf mythology. There’s been no movement until now, but at least it’s not going away – Dark Hero finally has some traction on this toothy project.
Hayter and producer partner Benedict Carver have joined forced with Canada-based E1 Entertainment to develop multiple projects. One of them is a t.v. show based on the awful superhero movie PUSH (maybe it’ll be better on the small-screen), the other is WOLVES, a.k.a. SLAUGHTER’S ROAD. WOLVES is described by Hayter as “Twilight with a bit more bite to it, and without abstinence.” Sex will still sell, however, as Hayter’s vision includes making the wolf transformation a metaphor for a teen maturing sexually into adulthood… Whatever, just give us some badass wolves, a compelling storyline, and actors we don’t want to throw tomatoes at, and we’ll be content.
The flick is budgeted at $18 million and is scheduled to begin production this summer. For more about Hayter’s new found deal, head on over to Deadline.com.
