David Rasche replaces Alec Baldwin as Agent X in Men In Black III?

You know how Alec Baldwin was forced to leave the production of MEN IN BLACK III after massive delays on the film got in the way of his hectic schedule? Well, looks like Barry Sonnenfeld found his replacement!

Buried in a TV casting story from Deadline last week, it now seems David Rasche (shown to the right) has been slotted to play the role of Agent X in the third MEN IN BLACK flick. You like the replacement?

Rasche is quite the acting veteran, having accrued more than 100 big and small screen credits dating back to 1977. Some stand outs include COBRA, “Sledge Hammer,” “DAG,” UNITED 93, FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS, BURN AFTER READING, and “Ugly Betty.”

Of course, actor replacement seems to be the least of the problems for Sonnenfeld and Columbia/Amblin. The production of MEN IN BLACK III has been fraught with woes from jump street, the latest development being that Will Smith’s longtime writer Mike Soccio has come on board to retool the script, marking at least the fourth writer on the project. Trouble in the future, no doubt!

Also starring Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, Rip Torn, Alec Baldwin, Emma Thompson, Gemma Arterton, Sharlto Copley, Betty White and Nicole Scherzinger (below) – MEN IN BLACK III shapes up like this: In addition to Smith as Agent J, Tommy Lee Jones reprises his role as the wisecracking Agent K in the present (the part already shot). Josh Brolin, through a time-travel twist, plays a young Agent K from 1969 who encounters countercultural figures such as Andy Warhol and Yoko Ono.

The flick still seems to hold a May 25, 2012 release date.
