David Slade to helm thriller The Widow for Vendome Pictures

Fresh off of his work directing several episodes of the hit NBC show "Hannibal", 30 DAYS OF NIGHT director David Slade has been tapped to helm the upcoming thriller THE WIDOW for Vendrome Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Penned by Ray Wright, the psychological thriller THE WIDOW centers on…

a young woman who befriends a lonely widow only to discover that their encounter was not a coincidence.

Slade, whose feature credits include HARD CANDY and THE TWILGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, is the executive producer on NBC's midseason hit "Hannibal". He's directed multiple episodes, as well as the pilot, with his work drawing rave reviews.

Vendome CEO Philippe Rousselet will produce the film alongside Steve Golin and Alix Madigan of Anonymous Content. Vendome is financing the film, with plans to commence production later this year. Rousselet says of Slade's involvement…

"We are thrilled to be working on this piece with David. He is such a dynamic filmmaker, and we are excited about his vision to make this movie a throwback to some of the most iconic thrillers in cinematic history — not to mention the two females leads being the strongest and most interesting we have seen in some time."
