David Spade dates the hottest mess in trailer for The Wrong Missy

A word to the wise, my friends. If you plan on texting your crush, make sure that you've selected the appropriate message chain before you mistakenly profess your affection for the wrong person. You laugh, but take it from me, it's happened before, and will inevitably happen again. Not to me of course, I'm a happily married man, but for David Spade's Tim Morris, a technological trip-up is about to introduce chaos into his otherwise boring love life.

Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for THE WRONG MISSY, an upcoming comedy from director Tyler Spindel. The film stars David SpadeLauren Lapkus, Nick Swardson, Geoff Pierson, Jackie Sandler, Molly Sims, Sarah Chalke, Chris Witaske, and Happy Madison mainstay Rob Schneider

Here's the official synopsis:

When Tim Morris meets his dream girl and their relationship quickly escalates through texts, he throws caution to the wind and invites her to his company's corporate retreat on an island resort… However, when a past blind date from hell shows up at the airport for the weekend getaway instead, he learns too late that he's been texting "The Wrong Missy".

As you can probably tell based on the trailer above, THE WRONG MISSY finds Spade's character, Tim Morris, in over his little blonde head after a case of mistaken identity finds him locked into a lavish company retreat with Missy (Lauren Lapkus), a hot mess of a person with energy to burn. While the trailer looks to be making plenty of room for Spade's trademark sarcasm, Lapkus looks to be carrying the lion's share of what the movie has to offer in terms of cringe-worthy comedy.

For real, when's the last time that you saw a character as extreme as Lapkus' Missy? That said, those who identify as extroverts often reveal themselves as some of the most interesting people to engage with. Personally, I'd rather someone be "off-the-wall" than tame and predictable. What can I say, I like my people weird, and for my romantic partner to be even weirder. You should see some of the shenanigans my wife gets up to behind closed doors. She's hilarious, and I will always welcome her forever-changing oddball antics with open arms. Here's hoping that Tim discovers something similar in Missy.

THE WRONG MISSY will make its Netflix premiere on May 13, 2020.
